JD Sports Kiosk

As part of a wider rebuild across web, app and in-store experiences, I led the UX/UI design for a new kiosk experience for JD Sports. This was also the first kiosk project delivered within Shopify. Problem: The challenge was designing a kiosk experience that felt intuitive and efficient within a busy retail environment, while still aligning with JD’s established enterprise level design system. Unlike web design, the kiosk experience needed to account for: - Touch first interactions - Standing users and shorter interaction times - Simplified navigation and reduced cognitive load - Accessibility and readability from varying distances - Consistency across web, app and in-store touchpoints Process I led the kiosk UX and UI design from concept through to final interface design. This included: - Interpreting and adapting the JD design system for kiosk use cases - Designing touch optimised layouts and interaction patterns - Applying kiosk UX best practices to improve usability and flow - Collaborating within the wider rebuild project across multiple platforms Output The final design delivered a cohesive self-service kiosk experience that extended the JD digital ecosystem into the physical retail environment while maintaining a strong sense of brand consistency. Results - Successfully translated a complex enterprise design system into a kiosk-first experience - Helped shape Shopify’s first kiosk project - Delivered a concept focused on speed, usability and retail efficiency
